    Suncheon National University Holds Naming Ceremony for 70th Anniversary Memorial Hall Conference Room ‘Cho Seok Hall’

    The Development Support Foundation held a naming ceremony by inviting Chairman Choi Gyun-young of Chosuk Construction Industry, who was a major donor of the University Development Fund.

    Soonchunhyang University (President Young-jin Koh) announced that it recently completed environmental improvement work on the conference room on the second floor of the 70th Anniversary Memorial Hall, where major events on and off campus are held, and held an unveiling ceremony on the 15th to name it ‘Cornerstone Hall.’

    About 20 guests including Choi Gyun-young, the chairman of the Suncheon National University Development Support Association, and other key university officials attended the ceremony to congratulate the naming of the Choseok Hall and pay tribute to the large donation to the university development fund.

    Choi Gyun-young, the chairman of the Choseok Construction Industry, who has been inaugurated as the chairman of the Suncheon National University Development Support Association since last year and has worked hard to revitalize the development support association and support the university development, has contributed 300 million won to the development fund for Suncheon National University since 2020 and has also donated 100 million won for the facility improvement project of the 70th Anniversary Memorial Hall conference room, creating a total of 400 million won in the university development fund.

    Accordingly, Soonchunhyang University completed the environmental improvement of the 70th Anniversary Memorial Hall conference room, where major official university events such as degree awards ceremonies are held, by remodeling the interior and replacing the conference tables and chairs with new ones, using the facility improvement project funds supported by Chairman Choi Gyun-young. In addition, in accordance with Article 4 (Treatment of Donors) of the Guidelines for Treating Development Fund Donors, the name of the hall was named “Cho Seok Hall” after the name of Cho Seok Construction Industry, which Chairman Choi Gyun-young runs, as a show of gratitude.

    President Koh Young-jin of Suncheon National University said, “I would like to express my gratitude to Chairman Choi Gyun-young for contributing to the local community with his entrepreneurial spirit, leading the development support committee, and providing unsparing support for the growth of the university. I hope that Chosuk Hall will become a space that inspires everyone who uses it in the future.”

    In response, Chairman Choi Gyun-young of Chosuk Construction Industry said, “I am honored to be able to contribute to the development of the university under the name of a company that I have worked for my entire life, and I am even more proud of the naming of Chosuk Hall,” and added, “I will continue to do my best for the development of the local community and Suncheon National University.”

    Meanwhile, Soonchunhyang University has established the following halls to honor the donors who have contributed to the development of the university through consistent donations to the university development fund: Chairman Hwang Ui-bin of Hyukseong Industrial Co., Ltd., Chairman Kang Moon-sik of Paru Co., Ltd., Chairman Kim Hyo-soo of Hyoseok Co., Ltd., and Chairman Yang Jae-seung of Honam Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. △Beommin Hall (International Culture Convention Center), △Paru Hall (Industry-Academic Cooperation Group), △Hyungok Kim Hyo-soo Lounge (2nd floor of the university headquarters), and △Jukho Hall (College of Pharmacy).
