Member company of Jeonnam Provincial Council… Wins Hong Kong Airport Runway Expansion Project
CEO Choi Gyun-young “Overseas market development success… Best construction as an example”

The Jeonnam Provincial Chapter (Chairman Jeong Jong-oh) of the Korea Specialized Construction Association (KSA) announced on the 22nd that its member company, Chosuk Construction Industry Co., Ltd. (CEO Choi Gyun-young, pictured), located in Suncheon, recently participated in the bid for the Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) runway expansion project and won a project worth 170 billion won.

This Hong Kong Airport runway construction project is a large-scale project worth a total of 1 trillion won, and four small and medium-sized specialized construction companies, including Chosuk Construction, succeeded in winning the bid.

A provincial official said, “This overseas market entry by specialized construction companies is a huge achievement as it instills confidence that small and medium-sized specialized construction companies with capabilities can enter the large-scale overseas construction market that was previously dominated by large corporations.”

Chosuk Construction plans to proceed with the first project of the Hong Kong International Airport new runway construction project, the reclamation and improvement of the soft marine ground. Using the DCM (Deep Cement Mixing) method, one of the soft ground improvement methods, a new runway including guide lines and landing infrastructure will be built on a site of approximately 270 hectares.

Choi Gyun-young, CEO of Chosuk Construction Industry, said, “We plan to develop overseas markets by securing various expertise through continuous technology development,” and “This order demonstrates the capabilities of small and medium-sized construction companies in Korea and suggests a new direction for small and medium-sized companies to move forward, so we will do our best to make it a successful case.”
