In the past, breakwaters and dams were built by expanding or replacing structural members to increase soil pressure, shear strength and bearing capacity when constructing offshore structures. However, this new technology uses a dedicated type of work vessel to force sand from a sunny area into the seabed sedimentary layer (sandy soil, clay) to secure the required soil content, allowing for economical design of the structure and reducing long-term compaction when using the forced displacement method. It is also possible to minimize marine pollution and sand disposal that occur during semi-installation, and is a method that is advantageous for increasing the strength and replacing existing soil, as it has a wide range of applications and is simple to construct.
